Location

The 2.5-acre (1-hectare) Selvista property is located inside of a 22.5-acre educational organic farm called Project Bona Fide. We have completely reforested the entire site over the past 15 years. You can find many trails, tropical fruits, plants, trees, butterflies, birds, monkeys and -of course- many ants and spiders throughout the property.

Local restaurants and small grocery stores in the town of Balgüe are a 15-25 minute walk from the Selvista property. Café Campestre, the #1 restaurant on Ometepe on TripAdvisor, is highly recommended. ***Please note that as of August 2017, we no longer have a security guard along the unlit 5-minute stretch from our farm entrance to the lit and populated main part of town, so be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp.***

Commitment to Sustainability

At Selvista Guesthouses, we strive to be as self-sufficient and environmentally sustainable as possible. All of the plants on our site are farmed organically with no chemicals or fertilizers, and we grow some of our own produce. We operate with a combination of solar energy and conventional energy, and we get the majority of our water from our own pump. Shower and sink water drains directly to various plants, other waste is composted, and in general we minimize the amount of trash generated here. Please help us with our commitment to environmental sustainability by bringing eco-friendly shampoo/soap, biodegradable personal products, and re-usable water bottles.

Our team is available on site every day to ensure your stay goes as smoothly as possible. We can recommend a variety of island activities offered by local guides and small businesses to help you make the most of your stay.
